Registered Office and Service Address
Every company must have a registered office. We act as registered office to many clients, providing a reliable, professional, and confidential service.
We currently charge £220 plus VAT for providing our Esher address as registered office for a company for a year. Our Buckingham Office can also be used as our registered office for an annual fee of £300 plus VAT.
Service Address
From 1 October 2009 any person who is a director or company secretary may use a ‘service address’ that is different from his or her home address for the purposes of the public record.
The service address can be any address, provided it is possible to physically serve documents on the director or company secretary at that address and, where required, for delivery to be acknowledged. This is particularly important as, where it becomes evident that the service of documents at the service address is not effective, the Registrar of Companies has power to restore a director’s residential address to the public record.
As well as needing to choose a suitable service address, there must also be an effective system or procedure for dealing with any official correspondence received by the director or company secretary at that address to avoid it being lost in the ‘ether’ or the filing records of a large office.
We provide an efficient and confidential service address facility to directors and company secretaries.
Our involvement as service address will:
- Protect the privacy of a director’s or company secretary’s home address
- Achieve a greater degree of separation between work and home
- Preserve 'independence' from the company – particularly important for non-executive directors given correspondence they might receive from shareholders and from others on confidential matters
- Reduce the volume of 'junk mail' received at home
- Make better use of your time as, unless you request otherwise, we will filter correspondence received and only forward official correspondence to your designated address
- Ensure matters are dealt with in a timely fashion – if official documents are formally served at our office in person or are received by special delivery or courier, we will ensure that you are notified and that they are forwarded to you confidentially without delay.
Our fees for the provision of a service address for directors and company secretaries is currently £120 plus courier/special delivery costs and VAT per person per annum. This fee is payable annually in advance and is based on us ordinarily scanning documents received and forwarding them by email.
